Week 1 | Day 2
Diving into this question was not easy! Among other tragic stories, I came across a story from about a year ago. A car full of teenage boys went out for innocent fun, and their weeping mothers found the vehicle they had driven away in crushed against a tree, 3/4 bodies left lifeless. Click here to see the full story.
I can only imagine a mother bent on her knees in confusion, hurt, longing, and pain, as she utters, “God where art thou? God, why did thou abandon my son? Could you not with all your power work a miracle?
Karen Henson Jones shares a perspective from a prophet in India who explains God to have three aspects including creator, protector, and destroyer. She shares,
“We are living in a cycle of creation and destruction constantly. The ecstasy is the renewal, the rebirth. If all things were to remain the same always, if fantasies of the material never dissolved we would never have the joy in creating the new.”
Karen Henson Jones, “Miracles of the Heart” at Google Talks
How incredible! Beginning to understand the purpose of all things lets us take a step back and recognize the need for creation and destruction. It doesn’t make it fun, easy, or diminish our grief in any way. However, it does teach our minds that tragedy is necessary – then just maybe that’ll push us past the denial stage and on toward healing. That’s what I would hope, anyway.
Now that was a lot to digest! But soak it in, think on it a bit, and see what you think!

Lord, I Believe by Jeffrey R. Holland
This shed SO MUCH light into what faith’s role is in miracles, how to rely on the faith you do have, what it is to know God especially in your time of struggle, and more!
Miracles – Then and Now by Thomas S. Monson
Monson touches on the hard things of today, then the questions that come. He reminds us we are not alone, shares the love of God, and assures us that God lives.
Oh & Don’t forget !
SUNDAY, RikkiThinks will be up at 7 PM MDT!
I don’t claim to know everything, but I sure do think a lot. Check in on Sunday to see the hope and peace I’ve unraveled this week by simply asking questions, believing in what I already know, and seeking further truth. See you then!
