Is Love Worth the Risk?

October 6, 2020 by Rikki Brase Leave a Comment

A mind
Bites its lip
Wondering of
Love’s worth

Is this the risk we take

Kissing strangers
we think we know
Fighting dangers
Unseen, unknown

Is this the risk

Unwanted divorce
Unplanned abuse
Unexpected loss
Unmerited accuse

Is this

A scheme t’ward
Guaranteed pain
Or conniving threats
To love unfeigned

Is

Love the good ache
The need beyond lust
Does it bleed red pedals
And erase frivolous dust

Is

Love age-old
No matter the start
Does it remember nothing
But every good part

Is

Love the puddle
Of cries that are caught
Then held, mirroring myself
Ne’er left for naught

Is

Love the playground swing
That makes my kid mind soar
Whisking me off my feet
Bellowing out, there’s more

More to life
More above
More to be
More to love
