Is Sitting in Silence the Fate of Every Victim?

May 22, 2023 by Rikki Brase Leave a Comment

Is it right for a woman to sit in silence
All her aches claimed by his name
Is it good for a man to walk away
Pushing, shoving, screaming blame

The last touch torches the morning dew
The woman's mind then whispers
Don't leave yet, he'll change, you'll see
It is love that always conquers

Thoughts aside, they bid ado
Loneliness now standing
It is feet that choose to walk away
Hoping they'll find a better landing

This is not love
This was never love
Love is not my friend
The ache still pounds
Where am I?
Devil, why are you the only sound?

For three years loneliness rumbled
For three years I scanned the past
For three years I was petrified
In my silence, wearing a mask

Wailing
        Fighting
   Screaming
It is never right for women to sit in silence
                           alone.
