For four days I felt trapped inside this box unable to find any answers beyond ‘God hears prayers’. I felt like I knew the truth but didn’t know how to apply it.
For four days I felt like God didn’t want to answer me. I found it WAYYY hard to read scriptures, say prayers, or do anything that would get me an answer from the heavens! What was this? Why was finding truth proving to be more difficult ever since I started sharing my studies?
I have noticed this pattern in my life before. Whenever I am striving for truth or about to have a spiritual experience, I have to beware of demotivating thoughts that will keep me from going and doing more! That might just be the devil himself, working to keep me from having a godly interaction. I kept this in mind, but it was a BATTLE! I’m not kidding, friends, it was rough!
However, in the thick of these moments, I found three things that really helped:
- Ask God for help and remove distractions
- Think of something spiritual or uplifting that has happened before
- Decide to do one small action at a time
I didn’t get to have an ideal study this week, but I did get to know that God answered my little pleas for help. I got up, set aside distractions, remembered spiritual experiences, was filled with a little bit of hope and took small actions that led to bigger things!
Sometimes, when it comes to our spiritual devotion, it takes stepping back and just doing the small things. It takes effort and that effort is worth it! This week I had one job: Don’t give up!
I have a hunch that God taught me this so that I could apply that principle to my prayers. I feel like God might be saying, “Make your prayers fervent and keep on asking!”
This week, I walked away with these truths:
- God hears our prayers
- Sometimes the greatest lessons are learned as we wait for the answer
- A purpose of prayer is to help align our will with God’s
- Sometimes I claim God is silent when I simply don’t like His answer
- God answers our prayer
So, on to another week of asking! Thanks be to God for all the clarification and peace I found this week. Have a good night and Happy Easter!
